I started my job on Monday. Mostly right now I just have to introduce myself to all the organizations I'll be working with and go visit them and catch up on all the paperwork that was in progress when the last person left. I go into the office Monday-Thursday from 9am to about 1pm. So far Dylan has been able to chauffeur me there and back, which is WONDERFUL, but when it gets cooler out I will probably be walking (it's only about 15 minutes from us).
I like my job. At least as far as I know it right now I like it. =) I'm a liaison so my job is to talk to people and communicate what they say to other people and I think I'm pretty good at that. Time will tell. I'll have to work on my logistics skills though - I've never been particularly good at arranging details. I just assume everything will somehow work. Another plus is that I'm working out of the church office. Having worked with a non-Christian organization in Wheaton for the past year, I'm really grateful to be surrounded by Christians again. It just gives everything a different atmosphere.
Of course all work and no play makes a dull blog entry, so I've been doing other things too. I went to a worship team practice on Monday and will be singing in church on Friday. Our worship leader is British and the band and other singers were all differet nationalities...I think there was one other American besides me. Oh, and it's supposed to be 107 degrees on Friday and we meet OUTSIDE. That'll be a new experience.
Dylan and I got to go hang out with four other Wheaties this past weekend - 2 HNGR interns (Chris and Stephanie), a visiting friend (Katie), and a guy who graduated with us and now works here in Cairo (Brian). We ate lunch together at Hardees (yup they have that here) and then played games at Brian's place. I'm telling you, people from Wheaton end up everywhere. It's awesome.
More to come. After all it's only been 2 weeks!
